A trans woman is a woman who was assigned male at birth but identifies as female. Trans women may identify as transgender, transsexual, or simply as women. They may or may not have undergone gender-affirming medical treatments, such as hormone therapy or surgery.
Trans women face unique challenges and discrimination in society. They may experience prejudice and violence, and they may have difficulty accessing healthcare, employment, and housing. However, trans women are also resilient and resourceful, and they are increasingly visible and active in society.
