Guitar tablature, often abbreviated as “tab”, is a form of musical notation specific to stringed instruments such as the guitar. It provides a simplified way to represent the fingering and picking patterns used to play a song, making it accessible to guitarists of all skill levels.
Unlike traditional musical notation, which uses symbols to represent the pitch and duration of notes, guitar tablature uses numbers and lines to represent the strings and frets of the guitar. This makes it much easier for guitarists to visualize the fingerings and strumming patterns required to play a song.
